Crenshaw Christian - Jonny Mitchell stepped down as Crenshaw Christian Academy's athletic director and head football coach in late October. Spud Lynn served as the interim coach through the rest of the 2025 football season. His only season as the head coach at the school produced a 3-7 record before he left the position with two games remaining in the season. The Cougars will be in search of their ninth head coach since the end of the 2012 season. They won an AISA state championship as recently as 2020 under the direction of Coach Wayne Grant. 2026 Season - Justin Bayman served as an assistant football coach, and strength and conditioning coach last season at Crenshaw Christian. After a tough couple of seasons for the Cougars his hopes are high of righting the ship and get the team back to championship caliber very soon. Edgewood Academy - Joe Brewton leaves Edgewood Academy after just a single season leading the football program. Since Bobby Carr left with his seven state championship trophies the Wildcats have struggled to find much success on the field. Edgewood will be in search of their sixth head coach in the past dozen seasons. 2026 Season - Gregg Baker has coached in and around Elmore County for nearly 40 years. He began his coaching career at Trinity before getting his first head coaching job at Alabama Christian in 2006. He has also served as a head football coach at Catholic and Highland Home. South Choctaw Academy - Stacy Luker Spent two successful seasons leading the football program at South Choctaw Academy winning a state championship in 2024 with a perfect 13-0 record. He will now move over to Mississippi as he has accepted a position there. 2026 Season - Pat Thompson arrives at South Choctaw Academy from nearby Sweet Water where he won over 100 football games during his twelve seasons leading that program. He brings along a couple of state championships so the Rebels should be in good hands the next few years. Southern Prep Academy - Roland Bell resigned his position as the head football coach at Southern Prep Academy just one game into the 2025 football season. He served as the head coach since 2018, going 43-39 through his seven years with the program. Southern Prep made it to the playoffs in six of his seven years. JR Rodriguez finished out the season as the interim head coach for the Fighting Rangers. 2026 Season - JR Rodriguez served as the interim head coach after the first game in 2025 and the team finished with a 3-8 record. | |
